Does the OpenAI API accept crypto?
No. OpenAI's help says: "Prepaid cards cannot be used to purchase API credits—only standard credit or debit cards are supported" (read 22 October 2026). The ChatGPT gift card is separate from API prepaid billing, and App Store or Google Play balance does not reach the API either. None of our cards pays OpenAI API credits.
What is the safe way to pay ChatGPT with crypto?
Redeem a card on your own account, from your own country. OpenAI's terms say "You may not share your account credentials or make your account available to anyone else", so shared seats, pre-made accounts and "top-ups" that need your password break them. We never sell, share or rent ChatGPT, Claude or other AI accounts, and we never ask for your login or password.
For the US web route, The ChatGPT gift card is OpenAI's own US card: it is redeemed at chatgpt.com/redeem by a user in the United States and pays ChatGPT on the web, not App Store or Google Play subscriptions. OpenAI voids cards obtained from unauthorized sellers, so we take it on request only and confirm its source before any payment. If your card is declined on chatgpt.com, see why ChatGPT declines cards; for every way to pay without one, see ChatGPT Plus without a credit card.
