Is ChatGPT Plus cheaper on the website?

No. In the US, Plus costs $20 on the web and $19.99 in the App Store, one cent less. In France, chatgpt.com showed €23 and the App Store 22,99 €. Go and every Pro tier match too.

Those are the only two countries where OpenAI's web price was visible to us. OpenAI publishes no web price per country: its pricing page sets the price by location, and we read it from France. OpenAI's help center adds that it does "not support annual billing" for Go, Plus or Pro. The App Store's second "ChatGPT Plus" item carries the Pro $200 price, not an annual Plus. Every storefront's price is on ChatGPT Plus price by country.

Why does Claude cost more on iPhone than on the web?

For Claude Pro monthly it does not: $20 on both. For the other plans it does. According to AISubswithCrypto's price check of 29 October 2026, the App Store is more than 1% dearer than the web in only 3 of 97 pairs. All three are Claude plans in the US. Max 5x costs $124.99 against $100, Max 20x $249.99 against $200, and Pro annual $214.99 against $200.

The comparison is like for like: claude.com says its prices exclude tax, and so do US App Store prices. The Anthropic pages we read do not explain the gap. Anthropic shows local web prices only after login, so we compared no other country. Claude's App Store prices in 38 countries are on Claude Pro price by country.

Is Google AI Pro the same price in the Gemini app?

Almost everywhere. Google AI Pro cost the same in the App Store and on Google's own country page in 35 of 37 countries. Brazil's App Store is R$ 0,09 cheaper (R$ 96,90 against R$ 96,99).

Kenya is the outlier. Its App Store prices Google AI Pro at USD 19.99, while Google's Kenyan page asks KES 3,700, about US$28.48: the app is 29.8% cheaper. Hong Kong has no Google AI page, and Korea's page shows no Pro price, so 37 countries were compared, not 39.

Is Mistral's Vibe Pro cheaper in the App Store?

Mostly yes. In 14 EEA and UK countries, the App Store matched or beat mistral.ai's VAT-inclusive euro price everywhere except Germany (+0.8%). Denmark shows the largest gap at −7.9%. Mistral's euro web price works out to €14.99 plus each country's VAT. Its US web price is $14.99 before tax, the same as the US App Store's $14.99.

What does this mean if you pay with an App Store card?

You pay the App Store price of your account's country, so the channel only matters where prices differ:

• ChatGPT Go, Plus and Pro: no premium in the US or France. On iPhone, one US$25 US Apple card covers a Plus month at $19.99. OpenAI's own US gift card pays the web plan instead (ChatGPT gift card).
• Claude Pro monthly: the same $20 in both channels.
• Claude Max and Pro annual: the iPhone price is higher in the US. No single US Apple card of ours covers $124.99; our US values are US$25, US$50, US$100 (all on the pricing page).
• Google AI Pro: the same price in the app in 35 of 37 countries.

Google Play prices were not checked: Play's public pages show only a price range per item. A card works only with an Apple Account or Google account of the same country as the card, and an App Store or Google Play subscription renews from that balance only while it lasts. How did AISubswithCrypto compare web and App Store prices?

We read 97 pairs on 29 October 2026: the vendor's official web price and the App Store price of the same plan in the same country.

• App Store: in-app purchase lists of 39 storefronts, read between 20:36 and 20:38 UTC without logging in.
• Web: official pages only, read between 20:37 and 20:50 UTC from a France connection. OpenAI and Anthropic show one location's price; Google publishes a page per country.
• Gap: (App Store − web) ÷ web, in local currency when both use the same one, otherwise on our US-dollar values.
• Left out: Perplexity shows only an annual-billing web price, and Grok's web plans carry other names than its App Store items.
